Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world 1 John 4:1.
Who's your teacher? Who's leading you? Are you being
deceived? How do you test the spirit of those you put your trust in...? We all must ask these questions in our daily walk for knowledge.
I said in an earlier article, behind every man there is a spirit and the battle
is for our mind (God's
Creation Is Not The Enemy). We all, at one time or another have
allowed Satan to control our thinking, which is his main objective.
However, his fight is not against man it is against God. He already has us, we were born in sin; all
flesh belongs to Satan: "The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to
God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so Romans 8:7. We are merely pawns used in Satan's schemes
as a sacrifice. Why? Because, we are of the opinion we can control
our fleshly desires without God; "The mind governed by the flesh is
[always] death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace"
Satan tricks us into thinking that our conflict is against our neighbor, which
is his ultimate goal. But, God said; "our struggle is not against
flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the
powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the
heavenly realms" Ephesians 6:12. Here's the problem; Satan
keeps our eyes fixed on what is visible, this method is designed to keep us
from uncovering who he is, as we destroy one another emotionally and physically
to appease our fleshly desires. The deception keeps us from crossing over
spiritually revealing strongholds in our lives. Now, as we walk in spiritual darkness with our eyes
fixed on what is seen (visible desires) instead of what is unseen (spirit),
Satan looks for those with influence whom he can consume. This way he covers a mass of people instead
of one or two individuals. That is why God said: “fix our eyes not on
what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what
is unseen is eternal 2 Corinthians 4:18.”
The most likely place for Satan's method
of attack is our local institutional church and its ministers. Because on
Sunday you will find people from “all walks of life”, political, cultural,
financial and social status gathered to receive, what they believe is the true “Word
of God”. But in fact, some preachers who
stand before us on Sunday morning to minister the gospel are false prophets
(not sent by God). One of the most telling patterns of a false prophet is
one who tries to control you or his flock by lording over you (a person who
has power or authority over others, such as a monarch or master). If
you find yourself in an organization where this dynamic is going on, be
watchful; the leadership knowingly or unknowingly is practicing the most basic form of spiritual
witchcraft. Witchcraft is all about mind control.
The pastor with a controlling spirit uses manipulation and emotional
blackmail to engineer and control situations for his own personal advantage
and monetary gain.
The controlling pastor is not to be confused with a pastor who is diligent in
fulfilling his clerical responsibilities. The pastor with a
controlling spirit is an enemy of God and the biggest hindrance to the work of
Christ in our lives. This spirit overwhelms us and leaves no room for
faith to operate. Feelings of bondage are present and individuality is not
welcomed. But, more than this, the
controlling spirit ruins relationships, causes loneliness, isolation and
ultimately leaves us powerless, which grieves the Holy Spirit.
The Gift of the Holy Spirit cannot work in the life of anyone with a
controlling spirit. He/She evades teaching extensively about the Spirit
of God or do not believe it is necessary for you to receive Gods Gift.
The controlling spirit knows that the only way you will expose it is by
receiving the Holy Spirit; who "will guide you into all the truth John
16:13 NASB." Without Him, we are spiritually blind.
False prophets do not put their faith in Christ or trust anyone, ultimately
leading them into self-worship. Self sits on the seat of counterfeit
power and rules; the only perspective they can see and understand is their
own. Any idea or thought contrary to their way is unacceptable. If
you do not conform to their ways or ideas, you will become demonized within the
institutional body and cut off; Do not be afraid, God said; “Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you
and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man Luke 6:22.” “I appeal to
you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles
contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such
persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth
talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive" Romans 16:17-18.
If anyone dares to challenge their schemes, they will use the following
scripture to justify their actions before it is publicized; "Touch not my
anointed, and do my prophets no harm" 1 Chronicles 16:22; as if
they are more anointed than we who have received the power of the Holy Spirit.
They are attempting to circumvent the truth by claiming to be more anointed, or
twice as significant and important in the eyes of God than you are. They
will also claim that their ministry is anointed as well. These pastors
pervert the scriptures in order to maintain their self-proclaimed rank by using
quotes from sources other than the Bible and erroneously mixing it with
scripture to prove their point, a form of humanism and manipulation. We
support them in their claims with a hardy Amen, which is saying, “I agree” as
they inaccurately use the Bible as the authority of their false teaching.
Once they know you are in agreement with their teachings, they form emotional ties
with those that have yield to their control rather than the direction of God. Offering dignified (meaningless) titles to
lure you in as they systematically take the place of God the Father. Throwing the term father around loosely, as if
they are our shielding parents and we are their children no matter the age gap.
This preferential treatment designed to turn our affection toward the
leadership, away from God and keep our eyes fixed on them to prevent us from revealing
their deception. God said we are all brothers
and sisters "and do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have
one Father, and he is in heaven" Matthew 23:8-10.
No one has the right to force his or her will on you; God will not force His
Will on us. As sheep, we look to our Sheppard for support and guidance on
how to live according to the Word of God; when we do this we give them power
over us; and that power can be used for good or evil. Stop being lazy
believers, study Gods word for yourself. “Study to show thyself approved unto
God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV. False teachers deceive us because we willfully
ignore what the scriptures are saying, and consequently we deceive ourselves,
resulting in deception by others. God says; "As for you [the
believer], the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do
not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all
things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit--just as it has taught
you, remain in him" 1 John 2:2.
Once we understand the process of the controlling spirit, we must completely break
free spiritually and physically from that organization and its ministers.
You must renounce the organization and its practices "spiritually to
God." “And when you stand praying, if you hold
anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may
forgive you your sins Mark
11:25-26.” To do this
requires forgiveness for the leaders and followers, asking God to forgive and
bless them, remember forgiveness does
not make the wrong doers right, it makes you free, which breaks
emotional soul ties and curses on you and your family that came through unholy
association with the individual and their organization. "Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which
despitefully use you Luke 6:28."
